My name is Gia Jones, I was a runway model in my teens, very slender and
it was a great life. One child, some abusive relationships and the
family genes 35 years old found me on the heavier side of things. I had
low self esteem and was just withdrawn and depressed.
I focused on my daughter and she gave me the strength to pull my head out of sand and stay away from losers, but once she was out of the home I had to focus on me again.
I decided to get back into modeling, I found some plus size sights and went for it, I was walking the runway again in no time, but it wasn't as fulfilling, that went into acting, fun but something was missing.....then I saw an add for a plus size pageant, and I went for it. I became Ms. Florida Plus America 2010 and worked on my platform Animal Rights.
I needed more so when the oppurtunity to become director came up I went for it.This gave me the chance to help other plus size woment live their dreams and touch each and every charity they touched. It is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.
There are days when it isn't that much fun, we have many egos and women working through some of the same issues that I had to work against, but when the magic happens, change of attitude and creating and initiating programs, it can not be.
Find your purpose, this will bring all the joy you can handle. My mother had a saying if you do something you love you will never work a day in your life, and this is true.
